The Santa Barbara County Fire Department is responding to a call of three kayakers in distress near the Gaviota Coast.
A spokesperson for the department said they received a call at 6:23 p.m. Friday about three kayakers in distress. They were located an eight mile south of Hollister Ranch Gate. Three fire truck engines, water rescue teams as well as a helicopter with rescue swimmers were sent out immediately.
At this point it is unclear if the kayakers are still in their kayaks or not, but a spokesperson said the first report indicated that the three were no longer in the kayaks.
Conditions in the area include extreme off shore winds.
The emergency call is on going. Stay with KSBY and ksby.com for further information.
