Santa Barbara County Foodbank competing to win $45,000

The Santa Barbara County Foodbank is asking the public for votes.

The organization is competing in the "Fighting Hunger Together" Facebook Voting Challenge to win $45,000.

On Saturday, State Assemblyman Katcho Achadjian placed his vote on Facebook.

The Mormon Helping Hands Organization helped out on Friday by unloading 17 tons of food for the Foodbank.

Foodbank officials say that if they win, the money will help fund their Picnic in the Park Summer Food Program, which will provide over 35,000 meals to 2500 local low-income children this summer.

Right now, the Foodbank is in the top 50, but only the top 40 Foodbanks win the money.
