The Santa Barbara County Foodbank gave a big thank you today to the agricultural community.

The foodbank held its 5th annual Agriculture Appreciation Barbecue this afternoon in Santa Maria. Organizers say partnerships with local growers, producers and manufacturers help them feed residents who would otherwise go hungry.

"We count on these farmers to support our efforts. There are people who can't enjoy fresh broccoli, can't enjoy a salad, can't enjoy oranges and apples like we all can," said Kathy Hayes, Director of Operations.

Last year, farmers provided the foodbank with more than one million pounds of fresh produce.
