To spread awareness about tuberculosis to the Central Coast, Santa Barbara County is recognizing Sunday as TB Day.
In 1882, Dr. Robert Koch discovered the bacteria that causes the disease. Sunday marks the anniversary of that discovery.
Officials say each year, nine million people get TB and 1.5 million people die of the disease.
In 2012, there were over 2000 cases in California.
The disease can be cured with medication.
