Santa Barbara County is hosting its first ever Stand Down event to help homeless and unemployed veterans.
The event takes place Saturday, October 13th at the Santa Maria Fairpark.
New clothing, toiletries and haircuts will be available to veterans, along with legal services, employment counseling and medical services.
The goal of the event is to give veterans a chance to improve their lives after finishing military service.
"We're trying to plug them back into society," said Steve Lavagnino, Santa Barbara County 5th District Supervisor. "Get them into our Social Services Department, let them know where Good Samaritan Shelter is and Catholic Charities and the Foodbank. Get them a job, maybe get them some increased education."
The Veterans Stand Down runs from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
For more information, contact Steve Lavagnino at (805) 346-8400.
