A Santa Barbara man is in jail for attempting to murder his roommate.
Police say 43 year-old Daniel Andrick stabbed his roommate in the neck while the victim slept.
Both Andrick and the victim were living at a sober living home for men.
Andrick had moved into the residence just the day before.
Police say the attack happened around 6:30 Monday morning on the 1200 block of San Andres Street.
Andrick did run away after the stabbing but was found later that day.
Police say Andrick did admit to stabbing the victim and that mental illness may be a factor in the incident.
The victim was taken to a local hospital where he is expected to survive.
Andrick was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail for attempted murder with bail set at $1,000,000.
