Santa Barbara Police say: gang member arrested for robbery

Santa Barbara Police officers arrested 24-year-old Roberto Arebalo Amador Jr. of Santa Barbara on Tuesday. They say he was arrested for robbery and participation in a criminal street gang after stealing beers from a local convenience store.

According to authorities, Amador is a known Santa Barbara area gang member who is on federal probation.

Police say they were called to a Santa Barbara convenience store on Tuesday night after someone stole an 18-pack of beer. They were able to locate the suspect and arrest him. Police say he entered the store, stole the beer, and refused to listen to the store clerk or two other people who asked him to put the beer down. Outside, the three men followed Amador and fought with him to get the beer back. Shortly after, he was contacted by police officers.

Amador has large tatoos on the top and sides of his head that signify his gang affiliation.

According to the responding officers, Amador denied having any part in the crime.

Amador was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail for robbery and participation in a criminal street gang. Both are felonies. His bail is set at $150,000.
