Santa Barbara sprints by Greyhounds 66-47 in quarterfinals

The Santa Barbara Dons took control early and cruised by Atascadero 66-47 in a CIF Division 3AA quarterfinal game on Wednesday. The Dons improved to 23-7 and moved on to Saturday's semifinals.

Atascadero, which was making its fifth-straight quarterfinal appearance, finished the year 16-10.

The Dons sprinted out to an 18-8 lead after the first quarter before outscoring the Hounds 25-12 in the second quarter to take a 43-20 lead into the break.

Ivette Gil led the Dons with 24 points. She had 16 points in the first half alone. Desirea Coleman and Jada Howard added 12 points each.

Junior Camille LeBlanc led the Hounds with 15 points on 4 three-point buckets. Senior Zayra Solorzano added 9 points and sophomore Maddie Leong added 7.

Santa Barbara plays Calabasas in the semis. Calabasas beat Jurupa Valley 53-51 in the quarterinals.
