Santa Barbara Zoo gets three new 4Runners for conservation programs

The Santa Barbara Zoo has three new Toyota 4runners.

Conservationists and zookeepers who study endangered species will use the cars for field work.

The zoo will be able to transport staff and volunteers to Ventura County to monitor California Condor nesting.

The Santa Barbara Zoo started monitoring nesting back in 2007 in collaboration with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Since then, nest success has risen from 6.5% to 61%.

They will also study the Channel Island Fox and amphibians, including the red legged frog.
