SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) - Santa Clara police say officers shot and killed a knife-wielding man after responding to a domestic disturbance between a father and son.
Police Lt. Matt Hogan told The San Jose Mercury News (http://bit.ly/R18EJj) that officers on Wednesday night found a 41-year-old man holding the knife and arguing with his 66-year-old father.
After mediating the dispute, Hogan said officers started to leave before hearing the two men start yelling again.
Three officers opened fire after the son threatened the father's life with the knife, Hogan said.
Police did not release the names of the suspect, victim or the officers involved.
The officers are veterans with a decade or more of experience on the force, police said.
The shooting is under investigation by the Santa Clara County district attorney.
