Santa Cruz surf teacher faced child porn charges

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (AP) - A well-known Santa Cruz surf instructor is being charged with crimes associated with secretly recording girls in a dressing room, having child pornography and performing lewd acts with an underage girl.

The Santa Cruz Sentinel reports that 38-year-old Dylan Greiner did not enter a plea to the 28 counts, which include possession of child pornography and the sexual exploitation of a child.

Greiner faces 10 years in prison if convicted, and he would have to register as a sex offender.

Prosecutors say the investigation of Greiner began after a girl came forward and told police that she'd had sexual contact with the surf instructor when she was 14 and 15 years old.

Investigators later found secret videos of girls changing at the school and thousands of child pornography images.
