Santas across America are hearing requests for the bare essentials this year. That's according to the Wall Street Journal, which says more children are scaling back requests for items such as iPods and laptops. Many are asking for basics such as shoes, library cards, and even eyeglasses.

The Santa Claus House in North Pole, Alaska gets tens of thousands of letters every year. The operations mananger says many of the letters this year are job related. We'll be checking in with a mall Santa on the Central Coast to see what he's hearing from local kids. Tune in to KSBY News tonight for a full report.
