High school hoops stars took on the brave men in blue at a Santa Maria gym Friday night.

It was all part of the annual Cops vs. Kids basketball game at Santa Maria High School.

High school seniors and members of the Santa Maria Police Officers Association faced off for the 13th year in a row.

Tickets sales go toward the high school's athletic department. "It's very different for them because they're not used to seeing these guys in shorts and T-shirts. The game lets them know that they're just regular guys out here to have a good time on the court. It is fun to watch them kind of teach them a little bit," said Assistant Coach Jeff Appel.

After a two-week rest, the cops will take on Pioneer Valley High School on May 21.
