If you have business at Santa Maria City Hall or use the city's library, you won't have to worry about finding their offices closed for furlough days in 2014.
To save money on operating costs, the city ordered mandatory time off days for its employees every third Friday of the month in 2010, 2011 and 2012 and for ten Fridays in 2013.
The furlough affected 550 full-time and part-time city workers.
City spokesman Mark van de Kamp said Monday that the economy has started to recover enough to prompt the city council to end the furlough program.
The furlough program did not cover police and fire emergency services.
