The Santa Maria Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire in the 2000 block of A Street at about 7:15 Monday night.

Fire crews say when they arrived there were wires down against a metal fence and metal roof.

The fire was quickly isolated with assistance from the Santa Maria Police Department.

A small fire was caused nearby because of the live wires but was quickly isolated and put out.

Ten people were placed in a shelter as a precaution.
