Santa Maria gang member arrested

An accused Santa Maria gang member is in jail for supplying a firearm to a fellow gang member who used it in a shooting.

Franky Hernandez was arrested Thursday in a Santa Barbara County Superior Courtroom in Santa Maria.

He was there for a court appearance for an unrelated crime.

Police say a warrant had been issued for Hernandez for a crime that happened in November of 2010.

He is facing charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, providing that firearm to a convicted felon, and being an active participant in a gang.
