Santa Maria golf tourney benefits new hospital

Santa Maria golfers tee off for a good time and for a good cause.

The 21st Annual Marian Foundation's Golf Tournament was held Monday at the Santa Maria Country Club.

For the past three years, proceeds have benefited Marian Medical Center's campaign to build a new hospital, which is currently under construction.

To date, more than $15 million have been raised.

The hospital is expected to cost more than $200 million to construct.

" We're planning on completing construction in the early part of 2012 and opening shortly thereafter. We'll have 188 private rooms, previously we've had 75 rooms and state of the art technology throughout the hospital," said Mark Juretic, Medical Director of Marian Community Clinic and Vice Chief of Staff at Marian Medical Center.

The annual memorial tournament is held in honor of Leland "Butch" Simas and Dr. Felix Fly.
