SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The only thing consistant for the Santa Maria Saints in recent years, has been inconsistency.
First year head coach Gabe Espinoza hopes stability on the sidelines will help lead to more wins on the field.
"One of the things I preach to them is to improve every day," Espinoza said, "and on top of that improve every season."
Santa Maria won just a single varsity game last year, but Espinoza, the Saints 8th head coach in the last 12 years, is confident his young squad is poised for a strong 2013.
"Santa Maria has the attitude that we always want to go out there and work as hard as we can," said senior wide receiver Marco Manzo, "we're not giving up this year so we're going to try and attack and go hard every play."
The saints open their regular season schedule at Bishop Diego on Friday, August 30th.
