Santa Maria man hit by a car while crossing the street

Santa Maria Police say a man was hit this morning as he walked across the street.

The incident happened in the 100 block of East Donovan just before 7:30 a.m..

Tony Castillo, 64, was walking across the street, not in a crosswalk, when he was hit by 82 year old Carnel Elder, driving a Toyota Camry.

Officers say that Castillo was transferred to Marian Medical Center to be treated for his injuries
