Santa Maria man in hospital after being struck by car

A Santa Maria man is in the hospital after police officers say he was hit by a car.

Investigators say 50-year-old Thomas Farnum was crossing the street near the 100 blk. of W. Carmen Lane at about 9:10p.m. Wednesday. He apparently didn't see a driver approaching. That driver told police he was unable to stop, and eventually hit Farnum.

Farnum was taken to Marian Medical Center with multiple injuries to his head and arms.

No word on his current condition.
