A 27-year-old Santa Maria man is recovering from his injuries after being attacked by several men who tried to take his groceries.

Santa Maria Police say that at around 1:00 a.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of East Orange, several men approached the victim as he was getting out of his car. One of the suspects tried to take a grocery bag out of the victims hands, and when he was unsuccessful, the other men hit the victim over the head with a metal bar and punched him in the face, then ran away.

The suspects were all wearing dark colored hooded sweatshirts at the time of the crime. Police have made no arrests.
