Santa Maria Police arrested two people they say were in possession of methamphetamines and ecstasy for sale.

On Thursday night, police patrolling Santa Maria in an unmarked police car pulled a car over for a traffic violation. They ended up searching the car, and they found 17 ounces of methamphetamines, some ecstasy pills, and some marijuana.

Police estimate the drugs have a street value of $48,000.

Police say Jorge Armando Herrera, 28, of Santa Maria, was driving the car. He was arrested for possession for sale and transportation of methamphetamines and ecstasy. He was booked in the Santa Barbara County Jail. His bail is set at $80,000, and he is also being held on a parole violation.

Police also arrested Selene Chavez, 28, of Tanglewood. Chavez was a passenger in the car. She was arrested on two felony warrants and booked in the Santa Barbara County Jail.
