Kids in Santa Maria were chillin' Friday for doing good deeds.
They were given police tickets for a free slurpee at 7-Eleven as part of Operation Chill.
Statistics show that crime rates rise during summer months, so to reduce the number of crimes, police drove around Santa Maria promoting good behavior.
Kids could get free slurpees from 7-Eleven for wearing helmets while bicycling, participating in school safety programs, and picking up trash.
The reward system is going on nationwide.
