Santa Maria police now say Sunday's home invasion robbery in the city was not a random attack.

Officers were called out around 4 a.m. Sunday to the 1100 block of North Palisade Drive. That's where they say three suspects entered the home and demanded money. Two were reportedly armed with guns. Police later discovered only one of the guns was real.

Officers also say that one of the suspects knew one person who lived at the home. They say he was actually the intended target, but he wasn't home at the time of the crime. The nature of their relationship is under investigation.
