The City of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department has finished an extensive study that looked at the community's parks and recreation needs.
Department workers have been going over a new plan for a year. They've met with special interest groups, like sports teams, artists, and teachers. They've held meetings with community stake holders and focus groups, and they've done phone surveys.
Using all the data they collected, they came up with a new 2013 Leisure Assessment and Action Plan. The Department will recommend the plan to the City Council at a meeting on November 19th.
