One day after setting a national age group record in the 200 meter breaststroke, Josh Prenot advanced to the semifinals in the 200 individual medley at the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials in Omaha, Nebraska on Friday.
The Santa Maria native finished in 2:02.58, which ranked 13th fastest out of 118 swimmers in the preliminary round. The top 16, which included world record holder Ryan Lochte and Michael Phelps, advanced to the semifinals.
The semifinals air on KSBY-TV Friday night from 8-9 pm.
Prenot finished 10th in the 200 breaststroke semifinal on Thursday, missing out on a spot in the final by .21 of a second. The 18 year old set a national record in the event for male swimmers 17-18 years old.
