One person is in the hospital after being shot in the head, now officers are trying to figure out who pulled the trigger.
Santa Maria Police say the shooting happened on the 400 block of West Orchard early Friday morning. They think the attack was gang-related.
Police say the shooting happened here around 2:45 in the morning. . .near the intersection of West Orchard and Thornburg.
When officers arrived on scene, they say a 36-year old victim had already been transported to Marian Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the head and is listed in serious condition.
Francisco Vasqez moved to the neighborhood from South Central Los Angeles.
"I came over here for the safe of my daughters, but now it's getting the same thing as where I come from," he said.
Police believe the incident is gang related, but did not reveal anymore information.
Many neighbors did not want to go on camera but said they were equally concerned about what they feel is an increase in gang crime.
The gang suppression team is investigating the shooting. The name of the victim has not be released.
