Santa Maria woman sent to hospital after being hit by a car

A Santa Maria woman is sent to the hospital Monday morning after being hit by a car while walking into the Knollwood Shopping Center on Bradley Road.

The California Highway Patrol says 60 year-old Judy Castillo was taken to Marian Medical Center a little after 10 a.m. with cuts and bruises to her forehead and complaining of pain in her chest and right leg.

The CHP says 76 year-old Kenneth Bearnth of Santa Maria was driving south on Bradley Road and while turning into the shopping center, he hit Castillo as she was walking north and entering the center.

According to the CHP, Bearnth says the sun was in his eyes and he didn't see Castillo.
