SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) - Santa Monica police say the 19-year-old British woman thought missing since Dec. 18 was never in danger and did not know she was being sought.
Police Sgt. Jay Trisler says officers received a tip Thursday and found Leona Dawn Perryman of Dorset, England, living on the streets in the Venice area near Santa Monica.
He says the 19-year-old had just phoned her mother and learned police were looking for her when she was found.
Perryman's 45-year-old boyfriend Paul Alfred Atkinson initially reported her missing.
He remains jailed on an unrelated weapons charge, but Trisler says he cooperated with police in their search for the woman.
