All three boys volleyball teams from the Central Coast were swept out of the CIF playoffs on Thursday night in second round playoff matches.
PAC 7 League champion Arroyo Grande lost on the road to El Toro 25-16, 27-25 and 25-20. The Eagles finished the season 14-2 after completing a perfect 8-0 run through league play under head coach Laurel Allen.
The Eagles struggled to handle El Toro's serves and could not find a consistent offensive rhythm as a result. Taylor Jenisch led the Eagles with 6 kills, Jack Empey recorded 20 assists and Tanner Howard racked up 8 digs.
Los Padres League champion Morro Bay saw its historic season end at Warren, the top seed in Division 3. The Pirates fell 25-18, 25-18 and 25-18. Senior middle blocker Scott Milligan went down with a leg injury in the first set and the Pirates never recovered. The Pirates finished the season 15-2 after capturing their first-ever Los Padres League title. They won their first playoff game since 2006 with a five set thriller in the first round.
The Santa Ynez High boys lost at home to South Torrance, the number two seed in Division 3. The Pirates fell 25-20, 25-16 and 25-18. They finished the season 13-10 after a runner-up finish in the LPL. Head coach Chip Fenenga praised his team's defensive intensity and was proud of his players' efforts. Clay Adam led the Pirates with 8 kills, while Chris Gil added 6. Christian Squires dished out 19 assists and racked up a couple of blocks.
