Two long road trips within a three day period took its toll on the Santa Ynez High girls tennis team on Wednesday. The Pirates lost 13-5 in the Division 4 semifinals at top seeded Cerritos.

Head coach Jennifer Rasmussen said her team just came out flat from the start in Cerritos. The Los Padres League champion Pirates finished the season 21-4 overall.

Santa Ynez won all five of its sets in the third round as Kat Rocha, Katie Voorhies, the doubles team of Bree Jensen and Reagan Mroz, as well as as Paige Lockhart and Morgan Laughlin emerged victorious.

On Monday, the Pirates won at Garden Grove 15-3 in the quarterfinals.

This was the second time in the last three years the Pirates advanced to the semifinals. Santa Ynez lost in the finals in 2010.
