Santiago wins another championship, MVP award

Kristina Santiago led Dunav 8806 to the Bulgarian National Basketball League championship for a second straight season and the Santa Maria native won her second consecutive playoff MVP award. Santiago's team won the decisive fifth game of the championship series, 76-61 on Saturday night.

In the series-clinching win Santiago scored 14 points and hauled down 6 rebounds. The game was nationally televised and played in front of nearly 1,200 fans.

Santiago was an All-American honorable mention while at Cal Poly. She started her second year as a pro with Hapoel Rishon LeZion in Israel, averaging 11.7 points and 6.7 rebounds, before re-signing with Dunav in December.

She averaged 17.5 points and 9.0 rebounds this season.
