The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office and the California Highway Patrol are investigating an officer involved shooting that happened Wednesday night in Santa Barbara County.
It happened around 8:00 p.m. in the area of Patterson Avenue and Agana Drive.
The CHP issued a "Be on the Lookout" for a wrong-way driver near Patterson Avenue and Calle Real. That's in the unincorporated area of Santa Barbara County.
Officers say a red full-size pick-up truck was driving northbound in the southbound lane of Patterson Avenue.
A sheriff's deputy and highway patrol officer spotted a vehicle that matched the description. They tried to stop the car near Patterson Avenue and Agana Drive. During the attempt to stop the vehicle, several shots were fired at the vehicle.
The 52-year-old male driver was injured as a result and taken to the hospital. The sheriff's office says he is being treated for what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries. His identity has not been released.
No deputies or officers were injured in the incident.
