PASO ROBLES, Calif. - Righetti's Malik Pope intercepted San Luis Obispo County's final pass of the FCA All-Star Classic Saturday, securing his second interception of the night and a 24-20 victory for Northern Santa Barbara County in Paso Robles.
Minutes before Pope sealed Northern Santa Barbara County's fourth-straight FCA All-Star Classic win in the four years, boos echoed through War Memorial Stadium over a controversial 15-yard penalty that negated San Luis Obispo Country's initial defensive stop and gave them less time for an attempted comeback.
Curry Parham scored the second of two unanswered touchdowns for Northern Santa Barbara County on 1-yard touchdown run with 3:16 left in the fourth quarter. The first was a 6-yard touchdown pass from Andrew Madrigal to Gabe Becerra with 8:10 left on the clock.
Parham was named the Northern Santa Barbara County Offensive Player of the Game and Pope won the defensive honors.
On the San Luis Obispo County side, Offensive Player of the Game Patrick Laird ran for over 100 yards and found the endzone twice, on runs of 89 and 45 yards.
Ryan Lombardi took home the award for San Luis Obispo County Defensive Player of the Game.
