Scientists warn against being too clean

All of those anti-bacterial cleaning products that promise to keep us germ free may actually make us more prone to sickness.

Scientists say our immune systems need contact with germs at a young age in order to prepare our bodies to fight illness for the rest of our lives.

They say if we eliminate all germs from our children's surroundings, their immune systems can become too sensitive and therefore more susceptible to allergies and asthma.

Researchers aren't suggesting abandoning good hygiene practices in our homes, but say we don't need to use anti-bacterial soaps or wipes, clean with bleach, or even wash our clothes every day.
