PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Attorneys are showing a number of so-called Boy Scout "perversion files" at a news conference in preparation later in the day for release of 14,500 pages of documents included in the files.

At the Thursday news conference, attorney Paul Mones said the files represent "the anguish of thousands of Scouts" who were abused by Scout leaders.

Mones' colleague, Kelly Clark, said the Boy Scouts failed to protect Scouts by keeping files on suspected pedophiles confidential.

Clark said - quote - "you do not keep secrets hidden about dangers to children."

Clark and Mones obtained files on 1,200 suspected pedophiles in a 2010 lawsuit that ended with a jury ruling against the Boy Scouts of America and ordering the organization to pay $20 million.

The two attorneys planned to release all 14,500 documents used in the case at this site: kellyclarkattorney.com .
