Two people are headed to jail after police say they burglarized a home and tried to steal a car, prompting the lockdown of a Guadalupe school Thursday morning.
Guadalupe Police say the man, around 20-years-old, and an 18-year-old woman burglarized a home on Wednesday.
On Thursday, police say the two people returned to the home, located in a nearby neighborhood, attempting to steal a car with keys they took from the home the day before.
Someone at the home interrupted their attempt to take the car, and they took off in another vehicle, police say.
When police found that car, they say they learned it was also stolen from another location outside of the city.
Police say the two people were inside a home that was next to Mary Buren Elementary School, which prompted the approximately 30-minute lockdown.
After a few requests by police, the two people came out about 15 minutes later and were arrested, according to police.
Police say no students, only staff, were at the school when it was placed on lockdown.
The investigation is ongoing.
