It was a Friday night to remember for Seattle Prep superstar D.J. Fenner. The top prep recruit in Washington led his team to a semifinal win at the 14th annual Mission Prep Christmas Classic and won the slam dunk contest.
The senior guard scored 33 points to lead Seattle Prep, the #2 ranked team in Washington, to a 44-41 come-from-behind win over Imhotep out of Philadelphia. Seattle Prep faces Bishop Montgomery in the National Division championship game on Saturday night at 8:30 pm.
Moments after the semifinal victory, the 6-6 Fenner, who's committed to the University of Nevada Reno, beat Imhotep's Brandon Austin for the slam dunk championship.
Austin, a 6-7 guard who's committed to Providence, went with a between the legs dunk in the final. Fenner one-upped him with an emphatic dunk after getting a running start from mid-court and jumping from near the free throw line to win the title.
San Luis Obispo's Kwab Farkye, St. Joseph's Chris Barganier and Mission's Connor Woolpert also participated in the slam dunk contest.
The Classic ends Saturday with eight games.
