Police have made a second arrest in connection to the murder of a Ventura man earlier this year in Santa Barbara.
Isaac Efren Jimenez, 23, of Ventura, who police say is associated with a Santa Barbara area gang, was arrested while leaving his apartment Tuesday afternoon in Longview, Wash., after the Longview Police Department obtained a $1,100,000 arrest warrant.
Detectives with the Santa Barbara Police Department also assisted.
The warrant issued for his arrest was for murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and participation in a criminal street gang.
Kelly Hunt, 21, was shot and killed Feb. 19 in the 1000 block of Olive Street.
Police say they interviewed Jimenez nine days after Hunt's murder, but he left the area shortly after.
Early Tuesday morning, Santa Barbara resident Joseph Michael Castro, 20, who police say is also associated with the same Santa Barbara area gang as Jimenez, was arrested early Tuesday morning in Santa Barbara on suspicion of murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and participation in a criminal street gang.
Police say there are more suspects involved in the case, which is still under investigation.
Jimenez and Castro are both considered primary suspects in the case.
The process to extradite Jiminez, who is currently in custody in Washington, to Santa Barbara County is underway.
