Seven girls basketball teams stay alive

Seven local girls basketball teams won C.I.F. Southern Section Playoff games on Saturday night.

Arroyo Grande easily won a second round road game at Arroyo, 62-36. Brianna Flood and Lindsey Wolf led the Eagles with 15 points each. Arroyo Grande won it's first round game by 20 points. The Eagles improve to 22-5 and will play a Division 3AAA quarterfinal game on Wednesday.

Righetti snuck by Dos Pueblos 48-46 in Goletta. It was a Division 2A first round game. Righetti will play North in a second round game, North beat Savanna, 38-32.

Atascadero handled Azusa in a second round game in Division 3A. The Greyhounds jumped out to a 44-9 halftime lead and won 66-20. Mary Kate Evans scored 22 points and had 11 rebounds. The game was in Atascadero and improves the Hounds to 17-8

Elsewhere in Division 3A, Lompoc lost at Oak Park 40-50. The Braves end the season 9-16.

In Division 4AA Morro Bay lost at St. Bernard, 65-39. St. Bernard is the 18th ranked team in the state. Morro Bay ends the season 20-4, the Pirates don't have any seniors and should return their entire team next season.

In Division 5AA Mission Prep won at Fairmont Prep, 82-49. Connor Storlie led the way with 18 points as the Royals improve to 26-1. Mission Prep will play 21-5 Aquinos in the Quarterfinals on Wednesday.

Also in Division 5AA, Templeton won at Hillcrest Christian, 70-40. The Eagles were led by Mari Stewart's 22 points. Templeton will play at St. Margarets on Wednesday. St. Margarets is 19-5 and won it's second round game, 53-33 over Bishop Diego.

Valley Christian Academy had a bye through the first round of the Division 6 playoffs and beat Price 58-31 on Saturday. The Lions improve to 15-1 on the season.

North County Christian also advanced to the third round in Division 6. The Crusaders beat Cal Lutheran, 49-43. North County Christian will now play top seeded Orangewood Academy.
