Several DUI checkpoints planned Friday along the Central Coast

Several Central Coast police departments are holding DUI checkpoints Friday as part of the holiday DUI crackdown.

The Arroyo Grande Police Department is conducting a checkpoint Friday night from 8:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. The checkpoint is funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety AVOID Grant Program.

The Santa Maria Police Department Traffic Bureau is also conducting a DUI and Driver's License Checkpoint Friday. It runs from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. The police department says announcing checkpoints ahead of time reduces the number of DUI drivers on the road.

The Santa Barbara Police Department is conducting a DUI checkpoint from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Friday. The department will also have DUI enforcement officers on patrol throughout the weekend.
