A new study finds sexual activity remains extremely low among young teens.
Researchers from the Guttmacher institute shows 1% of 11-year-olds and 2.5% of 12-year-olds report having had sex.
But the number jumps to 1/3 of teens by age 16, and nearly 1/2 by age 17. The report also finds contraception usage is common even among younger teens who engage in sexual activity.
