Sheriff's K9 helps make drug bust

A woman driving with her three children on Highway 101 on the Cuesta Grade was arrested, after deputies say they found 13 pounds of methamphetamine in her car.

San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Deputy Allen Barger and drug-sniffing K9 partner "Jack" made the bust Monday night, after Barger noticed the woman driving erratically.

After Jack sniffed the car, Deputy Allen says he found 13 one-pound packages of crystal meth floating in the gas tank.

Maria Guadalupe Garcia, 32, of Anaheim, was taken into custody.

Authorities say Garcia's three children were also in the car.

"We all hear stories, both in Mexico and the US, about drug dealers being ripped off, being robbed, shot, so yeah, she's putting them in extreme danger," said Deputy Barger.

The drugs have a street value of nearly $230,000.

The children were turned over to Child Protective Services.

Garcia faces charges of possession of a controlled substance for sale, transporting a controlled substance, and child endangerment.
