Santa Barbara County Sheriff's officials say they recovered a panga boat in the county.
They say early Monday morning, an off-duty Sheriff's Deputy spotted a possible panga on the shore of Tajiguas Beach. Investigators found a 25-foot boat with evidence scattered on the beach north of Refugio State Beach.
Based on the evidence that included fuel containers, clothing, and trash, investigators say they were unable to immediately determine if the boat was used to smuggle drugs, or for human trafficking.
Officials say this is the third panga found near Refugio State Beach in recent months. The last one was found on May 17.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office, Department of Homeland Security, California State Parks, and U.S. Coast Guard are all helping in the investigation.
