The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office has identified the two women who were killed in a hit and run crash on Highway 154 Friday night as Sara Ornelas, 54, of Santa Barbara and Barbara Romero, 49, of Lompoc.

The California Highway Patrol says the women were hit just before midnight when, for some unknown reason, they got out of their vehicle near the Rancho San Marcos Golf Course.

Officers later arrested Martin Macarena, 48, on suspicion of felony hit and run.

The CHP says other vehicles may have been involved.
