SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office has identified the man responsible for running onto the court during UC Santa Barbara's win over Hawai'i on Thursday as 20-year-old Zachariah Wendroff of Isla Vista.
Wendroff was arrested on a misdemeanor count of disturbing the peace and unlawful challenge to fight.
With just over six minutes remaining in the first half of Thursday's game, Hawai'i Head Coach Gib Arnold was arguing a call with officials when Wendroff stormed onto the court from the UCSB student section and confronted Arnold before being pushed away by a pair of Hawai'i players.
Wendroff returned to the student section briefly before being ushered out of the arena by UC Santa Barbara officials.
UCSB Sports Information Director Bill Mahoney told KSBY late Thursday night that Wendroff would likely have a hearing in front of the Judicial Affairs Committee in Student Affairs. Mahoney wouldn't elaborate on the potential consequences Wendroff could face from the university.
Wendroff's court date has been set for April 7th.
Attempts by KSBY to reach Wendroff on Friday were unsuccessful.
