Two Santa Maria men are behind bars after drugs and a gun were found in their car during an early-morning traffic stop, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office.
Officials say Tuesday around 12:51 a.m., a deputy pulled a vehicle over in the 900 block of Edison Street in Santa Ynez, which is near the Chumash Casino.
When the deputy approached the car, officials say he saw the driver, Michael Aragon, 30, moving toward the center console.
Sheriff's officials say the passenger, Roman Valdez, 20, had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Upon searching the car, the deputy found 98.5 grams of methamphetamine, 46.5 grams of marijuana, almost $2,000 in cash, drug paraphernalia, and a .25 semi-automatic handgun, which was in the center console, according to sheriff's officials.
Valdez and Aragon were booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail and are facing several felony charges including possession of methamphetamine for sales and possession of a firearm and ammunition by a felon.
Aragon's bail is set at $35,000. Valdez is being held without bail.
