A spokesperson for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department says Sheriff Bill Brown will not comment on his plans to possibly close the North County jail until after Monday's Board of Supervisors meeting.

The department says Sheriff Brown has been working on details to present to the board and says commenting now would be premature and inappropriate.

The Santa Maria Police Department is concerned they may no longer have a place to book inmates and do not currently have the money to transport them down to the main jail in Santa Barbara.
