Unpleasant side effects cause 1/4 of heart patients to stop taking Niacin.
Doctors commonly recommend Niacin supplements combined with cholesterol lowering drugs for people at risk for cardiovascular problems; however, a new study found 25% of patients who took Niacin stopped treatment compared with only 17% of those taking a placebo.
Side effects caused by Niacin included rashes, flushing, indigestion, diarrhea, diabetes, and muscle problems.
