Singer Mindy McCready apparently shot self

HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - Authorities in Heber Springs, Ark., say country singer Mindy McCready apparently killed herself on her front porch, the same place where her longtime boyfriend is believed to have committed suicide just weeks ago.
McCready, who hit the top of the country charts until personal problems sidetracked her career, died Sunday of what appears to be a single, self-inflicted gunshot to the head. She was 37.
McCready's two young sons were in foster care at the time.
